Occupy Celebration
This page is to celebrate all the positive things happening in the OWS movement. Contrary to the movements of the past, this movement is absolutely global, non-violent and is not only a protest—it is also a celebration. Protesters are choosing to go one step beyond just being non-violent: we are singing and dancing our way to the unity of human beings around the world, in spite of being brutalized by oppressors who seek to disperse, discredit and destroy this peaceful movement. Seeing an ordinary protester on the livestream say that we are here to prove our point and not create trouble or give a chance to the authorities to invoke violence,or protesters being not just calm but singing and dancing when police use tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse a crowd give many of us reason to think that this is not a 20th century revolution; it’s the 21st century’s first global rebellion, and the people have decided to not protest only in the traditional way but choose to sing and dance and stay non-violent, uniting the world with them. We will try to share all the beautiful things happening around us: things like people from around the world united together for the cause, choosing to be free of any boundary–boundaries like religion, country, color, race or any -ism. People are quickly becoming aware that any division because of any -ism or any other reason is on the surface, and as human beings, we are one and united. This global consciousness shift is something which has never happened before, at least in our time. This change is probably what is coming to fruition in 2012, and that is what the Mayan calendar or other prophesies are referring to. This may sound like a dream come true to many of us. I am a dreamer too and it does sound like that to me. But it’s not just a dream: science also says that the Earth is alive and everything we do affects it on a grand scale. A change in global consciousness will help heal the Earth itself. This will be the place where we share the best and most beautiful moments of the OWS movement; this will be the place where we share some of the amazing art, music, poetry and all other creative works coming out of the movement, and relevant art and music to inspire us in this journey to freedom.
