Nombo writes: Project occupy art is a global art project in solidarity with the occupy movement on sat the 28th January 2012. Think of it as a public art exhibition featuring pieces by ANYONE.
Personally, i currently have 3 pieces that I will be putting on display at college green (with the help of some friends):
Rock Monsters.
‘Honey Debt’ (4foot whinnie the pooh cut-out)
Tree of wishes (interactive)
I’m not sure for fact if anyone else is actually going to bring anything, as i’m finding it hard to get people motivated
I was going to contact local media for coverage on the day. I was also planning on asking local schools if they would like to get their pupils involved in making things for the day but its hard finding time to do all this on my own! So if there’s anything u guys can do it would be a great help.
I would also like to see a craft area on the day for passers by to use, (I love helping kids craft)
My plans would be arriving on the day at around 10am with my pieces and putting them out on the green (see attached ‘area idea’), this should take around 30mins. If others are placing pieces I’ll also be helping them any way I can. Maybe the camp could make something on the day?
Any spare time I’ll spend engaging public/passers-by etc.
Before it’s too dark, I will remove the pieces and litter pick.
At best, this would be a great day with many artists submitting pieces for display with many people getting involved.
At worst, it’ll be just me and my 3 pieces! Either way, I’m gonna do this every year whatever stage the occupy movement is at!
Of course I’m also open to suggestions that could improve the outcome of the day.
Regards,
Nombo.
